There is differnet backings of sanding disc
Abrasives are attached to paper, cloth, film,etc. and can be converted into different sanding paper types such as abrasive belts, large rolls, sand discs and sandpaper, and are applied to different degrees of material removal, surface finishing and polishing. The backing of the coated abrasives is mainly divided into follow types:
- Paper backing
By the weight of the paper can be divided into A to G different grades, A-weight paper represents the lightest and most flexible paper, and G-weight paper represents the thickest and strongest paper. The paper backing is the lightest and most widely used option, and it is used in the flat to provide a good finish. Of course, a very important reason is that it is the most affordable. But the disadvantage is also obvious, that is, the paper is easy to tear and is not resistant to water. This can be improved if latex paper with a high content is used.
- Cloth backing

- Film backing
It is made of uniformly thick plastic sheets for flexibility and durability. The film is tear resistant and at the same time soft enough and also waterproof for wet sanding velcro disc applications such as metalworking or the automotive industry, where contouring and very fine polishing applications may be possible. Thin film products are available in discs and sheets for manual sanding and orbital sanding applications. But the downside is that they usually cost more than paper.
- Foam backing
It is ideal for sanding bizarre shapes, molds, and tight spaces. Because abrasive sponges are flexible, waterproof and washable, this means they can be reused and have a long service life. Different sizes, thicknesses and particle size grades are available to meet different requirements. They are ideal for finishing.
- Net backing
The net sanding disc pad, also know as mesh sanding disc is generally made of synthetic fiber filament mesh cloth as the matrix, synthetic resin as the binder, and fine-grained abrasives (usually silicon carbide or alumina abrasives) are bonded to the matrix. Special abrasives , most commonly used in the repair of car bodies, in the paint defect repair process to achieve the desired surface finish.
Also we must choose the right abrasive grains and grit sizes when we working on different material.
Abrasive
- Aluminium oxide: This is a very basic material when we start to
polishing metal. It is cheap and also good speed. Very good for mild steel, plastic, wood. It is a general working type.
- Zirconia Alumina: It is a higher grade abrasive, very good for carbon
steel, mild steel even the stainless steel. It can achieve much better life and speed. (it also called Zirconia Corundum Zirconium Corundum)
- Ceramic Alumina: This is top quality material so far. Best speed and
life. Also very expensive. It is good for hard alloy and stainless steel.
- Silicon carbide:This is a very hard material, very good for Non metal
material such as stone, concrete and plastic.
Grit Size
It means the size of the abrasive you must choose for your application. The coarse abrasive normally work for rough grinding or remove the big stock, the fine abrasive normally work for finishing and blending.
- P24 – P36: Ultra-coarse sandpaper has a particle size range of P24 to P36 and is used to remove hard-to-peel paints and varnishes.
- P40 – P50: Coarse particles are usually in the 40-50 particle size This strength of grit sandpaper is to roughen wood and remove finishes, such as light-colored polyurethane coatings.
- P60 – P100: Medium grit sandpaper, with a grit range of P60 to P100 , suitable for the last sanding before painting. Usually we also use medium-grit sandpaper to do preliminary sanding.
- P120 – P220: The particle size of fine sandpaper is P120-P220. For most home workshops, this sandpaper is sufficient for the final sanding.
- Higher than P240: Superfine sandpaper is often used between paints or varnishes. P240, P320 and P400 abrasives are known as very fine abrasives, while super or ultra-fine abrasives up to P600 are best for polishing.

- 100mm sanding disc (4 sanding disc), 115mm sanding disc (4 1/2 sanding wheel or 4.5 sanding disc),
- 125mm sanding disc (5 sanding disc)
- 150mm sanding disc (6 sanding disc), 180mm sanding disc (7 sanding disc)
- 36 grit sanding disc, 40 grit sanding disc, 46 grit sanding disc, 60 grit sanding disc, 80 grit sanding disc, 120 grit sanding disc

- wood: many people ask how to use sanding disc on wood. Actually it is questions what you want on the wood, if it is rough polish, use coarse grit Aluminium oxide sandings, and if polishing,just use fine girt.

There are several conditions for delivery time:
- Free Sample can be sent out within 3-7 Days. We will send by by DHL or UPS. If the samples requested are over 5Kg. We would charge our customer the freight.
- We can be very quick if there is only 3-6 different sizes in one order, in general will be 15-20 days. But if in one order appear over 10 sizes, we must consider the delivery time over 25 days
- Some special sanding disc such as customer requested VSM sandings it takes minimum 30 days to finish the production.
At last if you make your first sanding disc order, you need to do as following:
1.Make sure what is the popular size in your market
2.Make sure what is the application of your customer and in which quality you want to supply. Maybe you need different product line like economic and Premflex.
3.If want to do private label, confirm what kind label you want, and also design the label layout.
4.Check the minimum quantity to see if it is OK for you.
5.Make sure the hole size is the right size to fit the angle grinder or in your market.
6.Confirm what package you need.
7.Realize the quality you check in my place can be vary when goods reach to your door. Always thinking life will be 80% down.
8.Sell the disco as quick as possible, if not find a dry place to stock them.
